We intentionally leave legends off our charts—and that decision is rooted in how we prioritize interactive, online use over static presentation. But don’t worry: we’ve got a few workarounds that can help when you're printing charts or sharing them with others.
Our charts are designed for online consumption first, where you can hover over any bar or line to see a pop-up tooltip with detailed information—just like a legend, but more precise and less cluttered.
We also allow you to compare many lines or bars at once—and when you're viewing that much data, a legend becomes bulky and often unreadable. Instead of shrinking the chart to squeeze in a long legend, we use that space to keep your data front and center.
We know many users like to print or screenshot charts for reports, presentations, or client handouts. If that’s you, here are a few tips others have found useful:
Hover first, then print: If you hover your mouse over a specific line or bar before printing or saving the chart, the tooltip will appear in the printed version. This gives you the label and value right on the chart.
Handwrite or mark up: Some users quickly jot down line labels with a pen after printing, or use built-in markup tools on their computer or tablet to annotate a saved image.
Walk clients through it live: If you're meeting with a client—either in person or over Zoom—you’re absolutely allowed to walk them through the dashboard live. Our member license only restricts giving clients direct access to the dashboards. You're welcome to use the platform in your meetings to explore the data together.
Legends have their place—but in a modern, interactive, web-based charting environment, they can often be more of a distraction than a help. We’ve chosen an approach that puts clarity, flexibility, and screen-first usability front and center.
