Why does Market Review use a 13-period comparison?

Market Review now reports metrics across multiple time periods, including weekly, quarterly, year-to-date, and yearly. Regardless of the selected time period, the sparklines all use a 13-period comparison.

We do this intentionally for consistency and clarity.

Why 13 periods?

All of the sparklines are built on a single, shared framework that was originally designed around a 13-month view. This structure allows us to reliably show both:

  • Period-over-period trends (for example, month over month), and

  • Year-over-year comparisons

By anchoring the chart logic to a 13-period comparison, we ensure:

  • Consistent visuals across all time selections

  • Accurate trend analysis regardless of whether the data is viewed weekly, quarterly, or annually

  • A simpler, faster experience without switching chart logic behind the scenes

What if I want a different type of comparison?

If you’re looking for alternative comparison views or deeper analytical flexibility, we recommend using Market Insights. Market Insights offers additional comparison options that go beyond the standardized 13-period framework used in Market Review.
